How It Rains is a beautifully illustrated little book that takes children on a simple journey to discover where rain comes from. From water warming in rivers, lakes, and seas to tiny water vapour rising into the cooler air, children follow the journey as droplets gather together, form clouds, and eventually fall back to Earth as rain. Along the way, children discover how rain provides water for the soil, plants, rivers, and lakes, and how the water cycle continues again and again. But this is more than a science story. Through a gentle Islamic perspective, children are encouraged to notice Allah’s creation, recognise water as a blessing, and develop gratitude for the rain and the life it brings. The book connects the science of rain with the Qur’an and Sunnah and introduces the du‘ā the Prophet ﷺ would make when rain came: اللَّهُمَّ صَيِّبًا نَافِعًا Allahumma sayyiban nafi'an “O Allah, make it beneficial rain.” A simple and colourful resource for introducing young children to the water cycle while nurturing curiosity, gratitude, and awareness of Allah’s creation.
